Art and Design in the db artshop
Exclusive design in glass and ceramics, white puzzles, a color memory game,
jewelry in the style of the Bauhaus, plus a wide array of art
publications: beginning in August, the db artshop at Deutsche Bank’s
online magazine now offers art and design online.

Ever since the unique joint venture between
Deutsche Bank and the Solomon R.
Guggenheim Foundation began in Berlin in 1997, each exhibition at the
Deutsche Guggenheim has been accompanied by its own special edition. In
collaboration with artists such as
Jeff Koons,
Nam June Paik,
Gerhard Richter, and
Tom Sachs as well as designers and curators, a number of individual,
limited-edition masterpieces have come about in this way.

Along with these exclusive editions, exhibition catalogues and other
publications of the Deutsche Bank Collection as well as a wide selection
of gifts and selected articles by international designers can be ordered
online directly through the
db artshop. Around 100 publications illustrate and document Deutsche
Bank’s many art activities. A selection can be found under the menu
section Books & Catalogues, including
Robert Mapplethorpe and the Classical Tradition on the exhibition of
the same name currently on show at the Deutsche Guggenheim.

In the db artshop, a wide array of articles from aprons to
T-shirts is dedicated to the theme art and fashion, including more unusual
designs. In 1998, during James Rosenquist’s exhibition
The Swimmer in the Econo-mist, the Deutsche Guggenheim presented the
fashion show Art and Paper on the Runway, staged and curated by the
Berlin-based fashion designer Claudia Skoda (More
here). More recently, the Japanese artist photographer
Miwa Yanagi had a photographic piece printed on a roll of fabric 660 feet
long:
Midnight Awakening Dream is a dream turned material that leaves it up
to the collector to decide whether to view the edition as “art by the
yard” or to drape the fabric around the body, like a kimono.

The MuseumsShop presents a fresh selection four times a year in tandem with
the exhibitions at the Deutsche Guggenheim. More than 5,000 articles
present a rich portfolio of attractive gift ideas. The focus here is on
the collaboration with young, innovative designers from all around the
world whose product ideas have often been realized for the first time for
the MuseumsShop. Presents from Schreibkunst (the art of writing) to
einfach genial (simply genious) and the highly popular gift certificate
for admission to the Deutsche Guggenheim can be found under the
MuseumsShop.
